Two recent tracks from fogchild showcase an experimental and ambient approach rooted in modular textures and a personal, conceptual framework.
endless entropy opens with dark ambient tones, gradually evolving through layers of drone and synth. Bleeping motifs emerge mid-track, becoming part of a repeating pulse that blends into the dense soundscape. There’s a consistent sense of movement throughout, as fogchild manipulates the tonal palette with subtle changes while keeping a heavy, immersive atmosphere intact.
blood of the lamb leans into a more vocal-centred experimental aesthetic. Processed, almost spectral vocal elements form the core of the composition before being overtaken by distorted bass textures. The result is a slow-shifting piece that carries a sombre, uneasy mood, shaped by contrast and gradual decay.
These tracks come ahead of fogchild’s debut EP future republican president, released May 22. The project, by New York-based artist Jae Magdalene Grumulaitis, draws on personal experiences of growing up within puritanical Christianity and reinterprets them through ambient guitar, modular synthesis, and sound collage. The works blend religious reference points with themes of queer love and trans spirituality, forming a unique sonic perspective.
